Dercum’s Disease Resources
Dercum’s Disease is a fat disorder that is related to lipedema. It is typically characterized by painful fatty lumps under the skin that may be accompanied by swelling. The lumps are usually present on the upper arms, upper thighs, and on the torso.
Also known as adiposis dolorosa, Dercum’s Disease is more commonly found in women than men. Although the exact cause is unknown, it has been found in people who have a history of long-term steroid use, but this is not always the case.
