What is Lymph?

Why Is It Important for Lymph to be Moving?

What is Lymph?

You may not have ever heard about it, but you have probably seen lymph before.

what lymph is - what lymph does - lymphatic massage Albuquerque

If you have ever had a zit on your face that leaked a clear, slightly yellowish fluid shortly after you popped it, then that was lymph.  It’s a fluid that is full of proteins and other stuff we will discuss below.

Lymph is super important in the human body.  It has many functions in the body that are critical to keeping us healthy and feeling our best.

The lymphatic system is an important part in the immune system of the body, carrying lymph fluids to the associated organs such as the spleen, thymus, tonsils, and the system that produces lymphocytes such as bone marrow.

Our lymphatic system also helps to absorb and transport important fat-soluble vitamins around the body, drains fluid from our extremities preventing swelling, and serves as our body’s natural way of detoxifying.

Why Do You Want Your Lymph Moved?

when lymph is stuck we have a weakened immune system, we become toxic, we become swollen and we don't get the nutrients we need - move your lymph Albuquerque
You want to get your lymph moving, because lymph is a fluid that is full of protein and protein can be rather sticky.

If we do any of the following:

  • Get Dehydrated
  • Are Stressed
  • Become Fatigued
  • Take medication
  • Eat a less than optimal diet
  • Get an infection
  • Don’t get much physical activity

Lymph becomes thick and sticks to itself.  Instead of flowing as it should, it becomes sludgy and is like moving mud through a garden hose.

When you have stuck lymph, it affects most of the body’s functions, including:
  • Reducing your immune system’s ability to fight infection
  • Inhibiting the natural waste removal system causing us to be toxic
  • Limiting lymphatic circulation – causing swelling
  • Suppressing the absorption and transport fat-soluble vitamins around the body

How Do You Get Your Lymph Moving?

The great news is that getting your lymph moving is simple!  Getting out and exercising more helps facilitate lymphatic flow.

Don’t feel like exercise?  Not a problem.

Come in for a relaxing Lymphatic MassageElectro-Lymphatic Therapy Session, or Lymphatic Cupping appointment and your lymphatic system will be up and moving by the time you walk out the door.

Skeptical about whether lymphatic massage really helps? Here’s an article that discusses the powerful impact lymphatic massage can have on your overall health.
